Description
Simply Links is a Links Management Component for Joomla! 1.0. This component and together with the plugin provides the ability to convert keywords from the content to links. You can easily manage the name, URL, description at the backend and the Mambot generates automatically links based on them.
Installation
Go to the Menu, Installers > Components, and install the simply_links.zip! After success install of Simply Links, you can instantly access the Simply Links Component through the Menu, Components > Simply Links.

JCE(TinyMCE) entities Problem?
At the BackEnd of JCE, you can switch the encoding to raw. Don’t forget also to switch entities to yes for valid html code! TinyMCE

The character set is really a complex problem. Mostly, it caused by a JavaScript editor. Some editors like JCE convert the chars automatically in htmlentities format.
You can check that: when you compare the keyword, which stored in the database with the intro- or fulltext. In this case, you need to set it to “raw”.

I attempted to email you information on the hack for getting mambots/plugins to work inside categories and section description text for Joomla 1.0.x. The message I sent you bounced so I thought I would just post here instead.
Joomla 1.0.x by design, will not parse mambots/plugins inside of section and category descriptions text. At least that is my understanding, and I could never get any mambot to respond without this hack. The hack found in this thread though, will change that behavior:

Hi there, this is an awesome product. One question, when I choose NOT to have links from HOME page they still show up no matter what? I am using the version for Joomla 1 – not 1.5 as my IT department is not ready to move our site to 1.5. Since I can’t turn off the HOME page links, it really limits my ability on subsequent pages. Please advise and thanks sooo much!
Excellent component, one thing I would like to be able to do though is select whether the link targets _blank or _self etc, so that for all internal links they target _self and for all external links they target _blank
Is this possible in some way? I’ve looked at the mambo but cannot see any exisiting way to do this.

I did install the component, but didn’t figure it out… I did find it on the back-end and I added some words with links, BUT i really didn’t get how to make it work with any articles I was creating. Could someone add a little more specific instrucion?

I’ve checked on localhost, Joomla 1.0.15 with sample data, and it works fine. During the test, I’ve found another bug at the frontpage. If there are 3 articles, Joomla’ll add 3 times scripts on the head area. I think it’s a bug in Joomla! 1.0.X Framework.

Simply Links has already an option, target=”_blank”, for external link. The only problem I can see is that, It was misnamed as popup.

could this component work with Virtuemart?
In Virtuemart, the products have detailed descriptions, where I would use Simply Links. But the mambot works only in normal joomla contents.
How can the mambot search for keywords in product descriptions too?
I think, it would be a very usefull feature.

Currently, Simply Links doesn’t support Virtuemart.
Do you have a Bot example, which works both with Joomla and Virtuemart?
There is a hack for Virtuemart, which loads content mambots to virtuemart. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with Simply Links. Other mambots haven’t any problem.

It simply call the mambot functions for Virtuemart’s product descriptions.
Simply Links has a setting, “Task”, maybe I have to add here something. I have tried com_virtuemart, shop.browse without success.

The forum problem is like the virtuemart one.
I’m not really familar with mxcomment, but it should work with Simply Links, ’cause I’ve already coded a comments componnent for Joomla! As far as I know, at the backend of Joomla, You can change the position of the bot. The mxcomment should be run before Simply Links.

I am using Simply Links 1.1.3 with Joomla! 1.0.15
The problem is the capitalization of the keywords.
For example, the component does not recognize that keyword “Apple” and “apple” are same. I have the word “apple” as the simply link, it works fine when it appears all lowercase in the page but when it appears capitalized in the page (as “Apple”) it does not become a simply link. Also the opposite is not working either.
Any idea.

It’s an entities problem. In JCE you can switch to “raw” mode.

I had installes Simple Links 1.1.0 and all was perfect, but now i have installed 1.1.5 and doesn’t works ! The “keyworks” don’t show the link. I have tried to install 1.1.0 instead and now both of them doesn’t works :S in joomla 1.0.14

3. Restore the database
Yeah, i did it. But now, i have tested to remove all directories from simply links ( administrator/ …. /components/com_simplylinks/ /mambots/simply_links … ) and i have removed from from database too.
I think this is a fresh install. I install it and all works correct, but the link isn’t created. I have tested url/abbr/acronym

I use simply links but I hate the annoying little icon that is puts. I have been searching for a solution to wiki style links in my article and thought I had found it and now I am trying to get rid of the little icon that makes the articles look junky. If anyone knows how to mod it to get rid of that please email me for a cash reward.

I have installed Simply Links and it works great, but i have a problem, Simply Links does not work when a page which has a very large content is published. The problem is that the page itself is not loaded but we can see a blank white page.
In error log I get the following message:
PHP Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /var/www/vhosts/site.com/httpdocs/mambots/content/simplylinks.php on line 267,

I have installed and it works great!
Here is the problem that I faced – The content page doesnot load if the content is too large (ie appears blank). I resolved this by writting a small hack to skip those pages, admin can specify comma separted list of content id’s in the admin control panel of the mambot.
